Kansas City Comets News Release
KANSAS CITY - The Kansas City Comets announced today that the team will hold an open tryout at the Kansas City Soccer Dome on Saturday, September 18th starting at 1:30pm.
Soccer players 16 years old and up can register to participate in the Comets' tryout by visiting the Comets website at www.kccomets.com/tryouts. The Comets have found a few diamonds in the rough over past 12 years, including defender, Brian Harris at the 2010 tryout, while 2019's tryout produced goalkeeper Lou Misner and 2020-21 Rookie of the Year, midfielder Lucas Sousa.
"We've seen firsthand how much young soccer talent the Kansas City area has," said Comets Head Coach, Leo Gibson. "I would definitely encourage anyone who is interested in testing their skills to come to our tryout."
There will be a second day of tryouts on Sunday, September 19th at 2pm at the KC Soccer Dome for those players from Saturday's session invited back by the Comets coaching staff. Comets fans can get an early look at the team when they take on the Omaha Kings FC on August 21st at Cable Dahmer Arena in a preseason exhibition match starting at 6pm. All seats for the match are just $14 and tickets can be purchased by calling the Comets office at 888-9-COMETS or by visiting Ticketmaster.com. The match will be preceded by the Comets' first ever 5K Run/Walk at 7:30am taking place in and around Cable Dahmer Arena. For race information, please visit www.kccomets.com/5k.
