Amarillo Dillas News Release

ABILENE, TX - The Amarillo Dillas rallied from a 5-1 deficit to tie the game against the Coastal Bend Thunder, but a three-run Thunder seventh pushed them over the Dillas 8-5 on Tuesday night at Scott Field.

Dillas reliever Chris Ingoglia (1-2) got the loss, allowing all three Thunder runs in the seventh inning off four hits. Coastal Bend reliever Chad Lundahl (1-1) pitched the last three innings for the win, giving up one run off four hits.

Coastal Bend took a first inning lead as Mike Goss led off with a double and scored on a Ron Fenwick RBI single. Brian Nichols hit a one-out double to score Fenwick, while a Kevin Butler walk was followed by a Lamar Guy 2-RBI triple for a 4-0 lead.

Amarillo would get their first run in the second inning as Alberto Cruz hit the first pitch he saw over the outfield wall for his team-leading sixth homer of the season to pull the Dillas within three. The Thunder responded with a run in the bottom of the second as Levy Ventura singled to score Goss for a 5-1 score.

The Dillas would begin to come back in the fifth as TJ Warren walked, followed by a Sam Palace double to put runners at second and third. Jermel Lomack singled to score Warren while Palace would score on an Adam De La Garza RBI single for a 5-3 score.

Amarillo would score in the sixth on a Palace RBI double and would tie the game in the seventh as Joaquin Rodriguez singled, stole second and scored on an RBI double by Carlos Figueroa for a 5-5 tie game.

Dillas starter Taylor Allen exited after the sixth inning for Ingoglia. In the seventh, the Thunder got a pair of one-out singles from Goss and Fenwick. Ventura stepped up and hit a 2-1 RBI double to score both runners. Ventura would cross the plate on an Alex Fernandez RBI single for a three-run lead.

Amarillo would get two hits in the ninth, but a double play stopped the comeback as the Dillas fell 8-5.

With the loss, the Dillas fall to 19-14, while the Thunder improve to 11-21. Tuesday, Amarillo will take on Coastal Bend for the final game of a four-game series at 7:05pm. Game time is tentative and is subject to blackout.
