Missoula PaddleHeads News Release
Great Falls, MT. - The Great Falls Voyagers outscored the Missoula PaddleHeads 6-1 in the first four innings of action on Saturday night in the opening game of a three-game set at Centene Stadium in Great Falls.
Missoula would have an answer however cutting the deficit to as little as one in the eighth inning. That would be the closest the PaddleHeads would come to taking the lead however as Great Falls would hang on for an 8- 5 victory.
The Voyagers would bring all nine batters to the plate in the third inning plating four runs to take a 5-1 advantage. Chris Caffrey did the bulk of the damage on a three-run blast to left field in the inning. Caffrey would finish the game 2-for-4.
Despite the early deficit, the PaddleHeads would scratch their way back in the later innings to get themselves back into the game. Luke Navigato would put Missoula on the comeback trail in the sixth with a solo home run to highlight a 2-for-5 night. The PaddleHeads would take advantage of an error in the eighth scoring a run to cut the deficit to 6-5. However, that would be the closest the PaddleHeads would come to the lead.
Great Falls would draw a pair of walks in the bottom of the eighth inning with the bases loaded to extend the lead to 8-5. Missoula never led at any point in the game. The first loss of the season to Great Falls would also bring a five-game winning streak to an end.
