Comcast CHL All-Star Skills Competition Results

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico – The Laredo Bucks had two individual winners in the 2004 Comcast CHL All-Star Skills Competition on Thursday night at Tingley Coliseum. Forward Brent Cullaton captured the Fastest Skater award, while forward Patrik Nilson won the Accuracy Shootout contest. The Northern Conference edged the Southern Conference in the overall team skills competition 8-6.

FASTEST SKATER

Bucks forward Brent Cullaton turned in the fastest time as he skated a lap around the ice in 14.28 seconds. The Southern Conference won two of the three races to win the Fastest Skater team competition.

HARDEST SHOT

Memphis RiverKings defenseman Derek Landmesser ripped a slap shot 92 mph to capture the CHL Hardest Shot contest. The Northern Conference also had the highest team average. Each contestant was given two chances

ACCURACY SHOOT-OUT

Laredo Bucks forward Patrik Nilson hit all four targets on just six shots to capture the CHL Accuracy Shootout. Each competitor had eight chances to hit all four targets; ties were decided by fewest attempts. The Northern Conference won the team competition based on shooting percentage.

The Southern Conference goalies Scott Reid and Shawn Degagne stopped 18 of 20 shots while the Northern Conference goalies Nathan Grobins and Ken Carroll stopped 17 of 20 shots. The Southern Conference won the competition based on best save percentage.

Wichita Thunder goalie Nathan Grobins stopped 14 of 15 shots to capture the overall goaltending award. The award was determined by the total saves in the Breakaway Relay and the Rapid Fire.
