Roanoke Dazzle News Release
ROANOKE , Va , January 24, 2004- ROANOKE, Va., Jan. 19â Despite Mikki Moore's double-double performance the Roanoke Dazzle lost to the Columbus Riverdragons 103-84 Saturday night at the Roanoke Civic Center. The loss snapped a three-game Dazzle winning streak.
Columbus (6-16) raced out to a 29-20 lead after one period, due to a dismal Dazzle shooting performance. By halftime the Riverdragons had increased its margin to 14 points, 55-41.
"We shot it well and didn't turn it over," said Riverdragons Head Coach Jeff Malone. "It feels good to finally get a win here."
The Riverdragons were led by Adam Harrington and Erron Maxey with 23 points a piece. Courtney James added 13 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.
The Dazzle had two other players in double figures: Terrence Shannon with 15 and George Williams chipped in 10.
"We could not make an outside shot," said Dazzle Head Coach Kent Davison. "When you go 1-14 from 3-point range, and your shooting guards go 2-19 you are going to have a tough time. You have those nights."
The Dazzle play eight out of their next ten games on the road. They travel to Asheville and Fayetteville for back to back games next weekend.
