Columbus Re-signs Sugden

Syracuse, NY (August 30, 2006) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have re-signed right wing Brandon Sugden. The Crunch also announced that they have signed left wing Darcy Verot to an AHL contract.

Sugden, 28, appeared in 46 games with Syracuse last season, recording 2 goals, 4 assists and 195 penalty minutes. In 164 career AHL games with Worcester and Syracuse, Sugden has tallied 6 goals, 9 assists and 786 penalty minutes. A native of Toronto, Ontario, Sugden is currently second on the Crunch's all-time penalty minutes list with 740.

Verot, 30, appeared in 20 games with Syracuse last season, tallying 1 goal, 3 assists and 64 penalty minutes. In 329 career AHL games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Saint John, Portland and Syracuse, Verot has tallied 30 goals, 50 assists and 1,471 penalty minutes. A native of Radville, Saskatchewan Verot has registered 2 assists and 135 penalty minutes in 37 NHL games with Washington.
