Columbus Destroyers Sign WR Mark Philmore

COLUMBUS, OH - The Columbus Destroyers, presented by Germain, signed wide receiver Mark Philmore, Destroyers Head Coach Doug Kay announced today.

Philmore (5-10, 185, Northwestern) is a native of Reynoldsburg, Ohio. He attended Reynoldsburg High School and was named Ohio Capital Conference Player of the Year in 2001. The 22-year old wide receiver played at Northwestern University (2002-2005) and finished his career as ranked fourth in school history in receptions (163) and fifth in receiving yards (1,768). He signed with the Chicago Bears following his college career and was released before the start of the 2006 season.

Columbus Destroyers training camp is now in it's second week at the Columbus FieldHouse. The Destroyers will scrimmage against the defending ArenaBowl Champion Chicago Rush on Huntington Field at Nationwide Arena on Tuesday, February 20 beginning at 11 a.m. After the completion of the scrimmage the team will hold Media Day on the field. Head Coach Doug Kay, all coaches and all players will be available to the media.
