Columbus Crew SC News Release
COLUMBUS - Columbus Crew SC today announced that an extremely limited number of tickets will be sold for Sunday's home match at MAPFRE Stadium against FC Cincinnati on September 6 [7:30 p.m. ET / SportsTime Ohio, FOX Sports GO (Stream) / 97.1 The Fan & 971TheFan.com (English), ColumbusCrewSC.com (Spanish)]. Crew SC consulted government health officials, Populous - a leading sports architecture firm and venue reconfiguration expert - along with Major League Soccer and their experts during the creation and implementation of the Health and Safety Protocols.
Season ticket members will have access, in priority waves based on tenure, to purchase tickets for the September 6th match against FC Cincinnati through a Pre-Sale starting at 1 p.m. ET today. Season ticket members in the applicable on-sale waves will be eligible to purchase any available location in MAPFRE Stadium including locations outside of their current level/price point/location. MAPFRE Stadium reduced capacity for this match will be 1,500 ticketed individuals. No tailgating will be permitted in the MAPFRE Stadium parking lots.
All fans and MAPFRE Stadium staff will be required to wear facemasks at Crew home matches, consistent with state and local health requirements and medical expert guidance. Seating availability is based on adherence to all government and medical expert recommendations, including most notably six (6) feet distancing between trusted seating pods. This distancing requirement, along with the tiered on-sale process based on tenure, will very likely result in the unavailability of exact season ticket member locations.
"We are pleased to be able to welcome back an extremely limited number of supporters to MAPFRE Stadium for our upcoming rivalry match this weekend and we are prepared to execute our Responsible Restart Plan. The health and safety of all individuals entering the building remains our top priority to ensure a safe continuation of the 2020 MLS season," said Crew SC President and General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. "As we have stated before, we recognize that circumstances are fluid and as such, have designed plans to maximize flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances. We will continue to collaborate with public health experts, government officials and the MLS to make the return to the Stadium as safe as possible."
Continued Bezbatchenko. "In addition to requirements of face coverings for all individuals entering the venue, the capacity adjustments for MAPFRE Stadium are driven by six feet distancing between fans' self-selected known and trusted pods. We've designed our seating layout to ensure proper socially distanced seat placement for fans. We want to thank all of the supporters for following health and safety protocols outlined as we prepare for an exciting match and encourage fans to review the educational video, frequently asked questions, and attend the informational session via Zoom as we look to answer questions ahead of this match. Finally, I especially want to thank our staff that has worked tirelessly to be able us to host a limited number of fans as safely as possible here in Phase 1 as we look to support the team on the field."
