COLUMBUS - Columbus Crew today defeated St. Louis CITY2 4-1 to win the 2022 MLS NEXT Pro Championship, the first ever team to claim this title. The trophy caps off a wildly successful season for Crew 2, claiming the best regular season record at the team level as well as MLS NEXT Pro MVP, Goalkeeper of the Year, Coach of the Year and Golden Boot at the individual level.
This trophy marks the second piece of hardware to be claimed by the Columbus Crew organization at Lower.com Field, joining the 2021 Campeones Cup. With tonight's victory, Crew 2 adds the first MLS NEXT Pro Trophy to the Crew trophy case alongside two MLS Cups (2008, 2020), three Supporters' Shields (2004, 2008, 2009) and one Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup (2002) won at the senior-team level.
