Columbus Cottonmouths News Release

COLUMBUS, GA - The Columbus Cottonmouths Hockey Team revealed an exciting change for the team. This morning at the Columbus Civic Center, the Cottonmouths refreshed their identity with a new logo and brand to local media, season ticket members and corporate sponsors. The rebranding comes at a time between a less-than-perfect 20th season on the ice and before beginning a new era for the team.

This new brand sparks a revolution for the Cottonmouths. The logo stands out from all other teams in the SPHL and has a modern, fierce and symbolic look that encompasses the traditional values the Cottonmouths provide. Sticking with tradition, the new logo stays true to the Snakes as a standalone snake head that embodies the traditional colors from the original logo: Chattahoochee Royal Blue, Victory Gold, Black and a hint of scarlet.

None of this could have been possible without Nick Matarese and the team at The Barn Creative. Nick really understands what the Cottonmouths need to make the most impact and provide positive, family-friendly entertainment to the community. The Cottonmouths have been in talks with The Barn Creative for almost 2 years, but after the 20th Season, they decided that now was the time to jump on this project. From the beginning, The Barn really wanted to make a brand that connects the Cottonmouths' fans and the Columbus community. The Barn focuses on what makes the Cottonmouths, the Cottonmouths "" and created a design system that propels the brand towards the future, while embracing who the snakes are in Columbus.

"I want to thank the great city of Columbus for supporting us for the past 20 seasons," states Head Coach and General Manager, Jerome Bechard. "I can't think of a greater place to have played in and now coach in. Our goal is to get back to the hard-nosed, physical style of hockey that we have been accustomed to; that we all know translates to wins."

The goal is to look forward to the future as a team and come out in October ready to compete. With this attitude, the Cottonmouths believe they can give their fans and the great city of Columbus something to look forward to. The Cottonmouths' logo may be changing, but their passion and desire to give 110% on and off the ice is not.

New Season. New Skin.
