San Angelo Colts News Release

Edinburg, Texas --- The San Angelo Colts snapped their season-high, six-game losing streak and avoided a series sweep with a 5-2 victory against the Edinburg Roadrunners Sunday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

The Roadrunners took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but were held scoreless through the rest of the game. Right fielder Tim Battle drove in Edinburg's only runs with a two-RBI single that brought home third baseman Travis Clark and catcher Dan Coury.

The Colts began their comeback in the third. Shortstop Danny Hernandez's sacrifice fly scored catcher Bubby Williams to make it 3-1 Edinburg. San Angelo tied the game in the fourth when left fielder Joseph Hicks scored from third base on an RBI fielder's choice ground out by first baseman Steve Rinaudo.

San Angelo took its first lead of the series in the fifth. Third baseman Jordan Marks, right fielder Cody Hudson, and second baseman Jon Dziomba all scored that inning. Marks came home on an RBI double by Hudson, and then Hudson scored when Dziomba hit an RBI single. Dziomba scored from third on a wild pitch by Edinburg starter Ryan Zimmerman.

Zimmerman (3-3) gave up five runs, three earned, on just three hits in eight innings for the loss.

Colts' pitching was phenomenal from the second inning on. Starter Eric Sheridan (5-3) allowed just three base runners from the third all the way through the eighth. Sheridan allowed two runs on four hits in eight innings for the win.

Reliever Cephas Howard then struck out the side in the ninth to earn his fourth save of the year.

The win improves San Angelo to 28-32, while the loss drops Edinburg to 32-31. The Colts are off Monday, but they begin a 15-game home stand with a doubleheader against the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings Tuesday night at 6:05 p.m.
