San Angelo Colts News Release

Abilene, Texas --- The Colts scored six runs in the final two innings to run away with a 7-2 victory over the Abilene Prairie Dogs Friday at Walt Driggers Field.

Both teams were held scoreless through the first five innings, but the Colts' offense torched Abilene's bullpen. Abilene relievers Reece McGraw and Derrick Dingeman surrendered six runs on as many hits in just two innings.

Prairie Dog starter Adam Rowe (2-4) pitched very well, but took the loss. He gave up a run on three hits and four walks in seven innings.

With the Colts ahead 1-0 in the eighth, first baseman Daryl Jones hit a leadoff homer into left field. It was his fifth home run of the season, and it started a three-run inning. Shortstop Landon Camp and designated hitter Cory Patton both singled and then scored. Camp came home on Patton's RBI base hit, and Patton scored on an RBI double by left fielder Jamar Walton.

Abilene rallied for two runs in the bottom of the eighth, but San Angelo came back with three more runs in the ninth. Jones, second baseman Jason Diaz and right fielder Jason Crosland all scored.

Colts' starter Mark Willinsky (5-4) earned the win, allowing two runs on five hits in 7 2/3 innings. Reliever Chris Weast pitched the final 1 1/3 innings to pick up his second save.

The win improves San Angelo to 30-30, while the loss drops Abilene to 22-36. This series continues Saturday night at Foster Field.

It will be Negro League Appreciation Night, and Dr Pepper Giveaway Night. Come out to the ballpark and meet several former Negro Leaguers, and leave with a Dr Pepper in hand. Gates open at 6:05 p.m., and first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

The Colts are a member of United League Baseball who are in their 13th season. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the Colts' front office at Foster Field.
