Colts sign All-American Shortstop

San Angelo Colts News Release


The San Angelo Colts have announced the signing of infielder Aaron Thor. Thor wheeled his mighty hammer at Aurora University during his four-year career. In his final season for AU in 2006, Aaron's last distinction was being named a 2006 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III First-Team All-America. In addition to the First-Team All-America honor, Thor was also First-Team All-Central Region, First-Team All-NIIC, and selected to the Central Regional All-Tournament team.

As a senior in 2006, "The Mighty Thor" went out with a bang hitting .426, with 10 homeruns, 58 RBIs, 18 stolen bases, 61 runs scored, a .710 slugging percentage, and a .530 on-base percentage. Aaron also helped lead the Spartans to 34-14 record last season, as well as back-to-back NIIC championships, and their third consecutive NCAA regional appearance.

Aaron also set several records while playing for Aurora like the single game record for double (4) and assists (10). Finished tied for the single season games played record with (48), career doubles (60) and assists (378). During his career at Aurora Thor hit .379 overall, had 221 hits, 21 homeruns, 60 doubles, 164 RBIs, stole 33 bases, and played in 165 games. Most recently, Aaron played in the United League Baseball Winter League.

The San Angelo Colts are part of six-team league that make up United League Baseball. The independent league has teams located in San Angelo, Laredo, Amarillo, Edinburg, and Rio Grand Valley Texas as well as Alexandria Louisiana, and began play in the 2006 season.
