HARLINGEN, Texas - Ryan Valyan pitched a complete-game victory and his fellow pitchers combined for five hits, three RBIs and two runs scored Wednesday as the Brownsville Toros won their ninth straight, 7-1, over the Laredo Broncos in the Texas Winter League.

The combination of the Laredo loss and Harlingen win later in the day eliminated Laredo from the playoffs.

Buddy Bengal , normally a pitcher, went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored as the Toros left fielder. In the last inning, all the Toros pitchers batted. Jason Moody doubled and scored and Jason Fulcher also doubled.

Bryan Sabatella doubled home a run in the first inning and Brian Nichols had two hits for Brownsville.

Laredo starter Carlos De La Rosa (0-2) went the distance, allowing 11 hits and seven runs (six earned). Andrew Revall scored the Broncos only run on a fielder's choice in the first inning.

Valyan (1-0) allowed five hits, the only run was unearned, walked none and struck out two. The Toros team ERA is now 0.91 on the year.
