Colts play home run derby, beat McAllen 15-5

San Angelo, Texas---Daryl Jones hit three home runs and drove in five runs to lead an offensive barrage in the Colts first win of the season, 15-5 over the McAllen Thunder at Foster Field Friday night. Jason Crosland hit the 100th home run of his career in the first after going hitless in the season's first two games.

Jones (3) got the home run derby started for San Angelo in the first inning, hitting the first of three Colts long balls in the bottom of the first. Jon Edwards (1) hit one out to lead off the fourth inning for his first hit of the season, and later in the inning Danny Hernandez (2) went deep for the first of his two dingers on the night. San Angelo hit eight home runs as a team, giving them 15 for the year, through just three games.

Chandler Barnard (1-0, 5.40) started the game for the Colts and picked up the win after allowing three runs in five innings, while striking out five. McAllen starter Jason Oatman (0-1, 8.00) took the loss after he gave up eight earned runs in three innings pitched.

The final game of series and the homestand will be Saturday night, when San Angelo sends right-hander Gorman Romero to the hill against McAllen's righty Kurt Houck.
