San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, Texas --- The Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings never trailed, and ran away with an 8-3 victory over the Colts Sunday night at Foster Field. The loss denied San Angelo its fourth series sweep of the season.

Rio Grande Valley took a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning. Right fielder Robert Moron hit a two-RBI double, and then scored on second baseman Jacinto Cipriota's RBI base hit. Cipriota went 3-for-5 with two RBIs on the night.

San Angelo outscored the WhiteWings 2-1 from the bottom of the fourth through the sixth inning, courtesy of a passed ball and a solo home run by catcher Salvador Paniagua. For Paniagua, it was his fifth homer of the year, and second with the Colts.

The Colts cut their deficit down to 4-2, but that proved to be as close as they would get. Rio Grande Valley rallied for four runs in the top of the ninth to put the game out of reach. The WhiteWings recorded six consecutive base hits in that inning.

Third baseman Landon Camp hit his team-best 13th home run, a solo shot, to lead off the bottom of the ninth, but it was too little, too late.

Colts' starter Mike Hart (6-4) took the loss, allowing four runs on eight hits in six innings. Meanwhile, WhiteWings starter Reymond Cruz gave up two runs, one earned, on six hits in seven innings. Reliever Julio Santana pitched the last two innings, and collected his first save.

The win improves Rio Grande Valley to 49-38, while the loss San Angelo to 46-42. The Colts begin a four-game home-and-home series with the Fort Worth Cats Monday night at LaGrave Field.

The next Colts' home game is on Wednesday, August 29 when they host the Fort Worth Cats. It will be a Sherwin Wednesday, sponsored by Sherwin Williams and the final fireworks night of the year.

The Colts are a member of United League Baseball who are in their 13th season. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the Colts' front office at Foster Field.
