San Angelo Colts News Release

Fort Worth, Texas --- Fort Worth Cats' starter James Giulietti pitched seven shutout innings to lead his team to a 5-1 victory over the Colts Monday night at LaGrave Field.

Giulietti (4-7) scattered seven hits and struck out a game-high five for the win. It was Giulietti's third win of the year against San Angelo.

Fort Worth took a 1-0 lead in the second with an unearned run. First baseman Jose Ruiz reached base on an error, and then scored from third on an RBI ground out by catcher Derek Marshall.

Shortstop Brandon Jones made it 2-0 Cats with a solo home run in the sixth inning. It was Jones's league-leading 18th home run of the season.

The Cats knocked Colts' starter Brian Henschel out of the game in the seventh. Fort Worth scored three runs on four hits that inning, including a two-RBI double by Ruiz. Henschel (7-9) gave up four runs, three earned, on six hits in 6 1/3 innings for the loss.

Reliever Jose Sanchez surrendered a run on one hit through the final 1 2/3 innings of the game.

San Angelo ended the shutout in the eighth with an RBI double by left fielder Cory Patton. The hit scored first baseman Daryl Jones, who reached base on an error to begin the inning. The run was too little, too late, however, as Cats' reliever Brandon Wilkerson pitched a scoreless ninth to seal the win for his team.

The win improves Fort Worth's regular season record to 52-44, while the loss drops San Angelo to 51-45. Fort Worth has home field advantage against the Colts in the first round of the United League Playoffs.

The playoffs begin Tuesday night at Foster Field. Gates open at 6:05 p.m., and first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. For tickets and information, call 94-COLTS.

The Colts are a member of United League Baseball who are in their 13th season. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the Colts' front office at Foster Field.
