Alexandria, LA - The San Angelo Colts used four extra-base hits out of their seven to beat the Alexandria Aces 6-2 Saturday at Foster Field, snapping Alexandria's four-game winning streak.

The Colts won their fifth consecutive game in front of a season-high crowd of 3,340, backed by a strong 7.1 innings from lefthander Yorkin Ferreras (2-0), who struck out eight batters and allowed both runs.

With the game tied 1-1, San Angelo took control of the game with a four-run fourth. With two on and one out, Colt catcher Tony Sanguinetti lined a 1-2 slider to left-center field for an RBI single and a 2-1 lead. Brian Baker followed by hitting Hernandez's first pitch over the left-center field wall for a three-run homer and a 5-1 lead.

Scott Krause added a solo homer in the fifth inning for a 6-1 Colt advantage. Krause (2-for-3) was the only San Angelo player with multiple hits. For Alexandria, designated hitter Trey Beamon and first baseman Josh Tranum each had two hits to extend their hitting streaks to five games. The Aces also got strong relief innings from righthanders Donnie Bridges and Adam Frey. Alexandria stranded five runners on base in the final three innings.

The series continues tomorrow night, with Alexandria lefty Adam Cox facing San Angelo southpaw Edwin Walker. The series concludes Monday night, and the Aces return to Bringhurst Field Friday after the All-Star Game for a six-game homestand July 14-19.
