San Angelo Colts News Release

Man are the Colts glad to have him. The San Angelo Colts announced today they have acquired former Texas Rangers draft pick Jason Mann for a player to be named later.

Jason is 24-years-old and is a big backstop, listed at 6'4" and 218 lbs. The big catcher finally gets to play in Texas, after being a former 21st round draft pick by the Texas Rangers out of Central Alabama Community College in 2002.

Mann is a strong defensive catcher who is said to have the strongest arm in the Frontier League and calls a good game behind the plate. Jason also gives Colts Manager Doc Edwards another option behind the plate, after the Colts traded catcher Cody Palmer last month. Jason played in the Gulf Coast, Arizona Fall and Northwest Leagues for the Rangers organization in 2002 and 2003.

Mann did not play in 2004, however in 2005 played pro ball again for Evansville in the Frontier League. In 2006, Jason played for the Windy City Thunderbolts and appeared in 64 games. Windy City, also in the Frontier League is the same team that former Colts outfielder Brian Baker and current Colts infielder Jason Crosland, both played with.
