Colts downed by Fort Worth
San Angelo, TX- Much like the old West, this matchup of East vs West saw a true pitcher's duel. Brandon Wood and Mark Persails each threw inning after inning of great baseball. Persails would pitch 7 innings, allowing just 1 un-earned run, while Brandon Wood had 8 innings thrown, allowing just a homerun. In the end, it would be the bullpens that decided it, in the 9th, the Cats had a leadoff double by Jason Radwan, he came into score on an RBI single by Jim Essian.
Essian would then steal 2nd, and head to 3rd on an errant throw. After a failed suicide squeeze attempt, Essian was left hung out to dry, but the Colt's committed yet another throwing error in the rundown, allowing the Cats to score the eventual winning run. Down 3-1 in the 9th, San Angelo saw Eddie Gerald double, and then come into score on a Ricky Magdelano single. Dave Stevens would get the 2nd and 3rd outs however without incdient to nail down his 3rd save of the year, and strand the game-tying run at 1st. For the Colts, 3 errors led to 2 unearned runs scored by the Cats. Dwayne Dobson was charged with the loss, to fall to 0-4 while Brandon Wood excelled to 6-1 with the W. Juan Rocha hit his league leading 12th homer of the year while Magdelano went 3-4.
