Fort Worth Cats News Release

San Angelo, Texas --- In his Colts' debut, second baseman Danny Gonzalez had four RBIs and drove in the tying and winning runs, as San Angelo beat the Fort Worth Cats, 6-4, Wednesday night at Foster Field.

Gonzalez hit a two-RBI infield single in the bottom of the eighth to give San Angelo a 5-4 lead. Shortstop Danny Hernandez then hit an RBI base hit that scored right fielder Jamar Walton, giving the Colts an insurance run.

Fort Worth reliever T.J. Bozeman (2-3) took the loss, giving up three runs on as many hits in an inning of work.

The Cats took a 3-0 lead in the first, courtesy of a three-run homer by first baseman Jose Ruiz. For Ruiz, it was his ninth homer of the year.

Despite Fort Worth's early advantage, Colts' starter Brian Henschel held his ground and went on to pitch eight innings in a winning effort. Henschel allowed four runs on eight hits, and struck out five.

Cats' starter Blake Nation went seven full innings, only allowing three runs on just six hits. Nation also struck out six Colt batters. It was the first time in four starts that Nation did not get the win on the mound.

Closer Erik Draxton pitched a scoreless ninth, and set a new single-season Colts' record with his 23rd save. Draxton also leads the league in saves.

The win improves San Angelo to 48-42, while the loss drops Fort Worth to 49-41. This series continues Thursday night at Foster Field.

The Cats return home Friday night, kicking off Fan Appreciation Weekend. Friday night will feature many giveaways throughout the evening, including a bike raffle, autographed balls and hats, and ticket and suite vouchers for 2013. Fountain drinks, draft beer, and hot dogs will also be on sale for just two dollars. Tickets can be purchased online at FWCats.com and by phone at (817) 332-CATS.
