May 17, 2011 - North American League (NAmL)
San Angelo Colts News Release

San Angelo, Texas---Former major league pitcher Francisco Cruceta will pitch in a Colts uniform in 2011. The 29-year-old right-hander from the Dominican Republic reached the big leagues with the Indians, Mariners and Tigers, last appearing in 2008.

Francisco was a top Texas Rangers prospect in 2007, but never got called up to Arlington. At Triple-A Oklahoma he went 3-0 with a 3.02 ERA and one save in 25 games, including five starts. He has struck out nearly a batter per inning at every level he's pitched at, posting an 8.37 career mark in strikeouts per nine innings.

In 2004, Cleveland gave a then 22-year-old Cruceta his first call to the big leagues when he started two games for the Tribe. His most successful major league stint came with Detroit in 2008, when he pitched in 13 games out of the bullpen and posted a 5.40 ERA.

Cruceta spent the last two seasons with the Samsung Lions of the Korea Baseball Organization and this spring was invited to spring training with the San Francisco Giants, but did not make the team.

The New North American League inaugural year in 2011 welcomes the opportunity to bring the excitement and tradition of professional baseball to communities for fans, friends, and families with a long-standing love affair with the Nation's favorite pastime.
