
Colsey Scores Game Winning Goal In Thrilling Overtime Game

Lisle, IL - The Philadelphia Barrage of Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier outdoor lacrosse league, defeated the Chicago Machice 13 to 12 in overtime infront of 2,335 fans at Benedictine University. Roy Colsey was named the Bud Light MVP for his five-point performance tonight (3G, 1 2ptG, 1A) including the game winning goal. Chicago came our strong to open the first half. Ten seconds into the game, midfielder Doug Shanahan and former Barrage face off specialist, put Chicago on the board. Scott Dooley and Dan Paccione both scored for the Machine in the first quarter. Chicago goalie, Zach Gagel held the Barrage offense scoreless in the first quarter. Chicago continued their scoring streak into the second quarter with a goal by Steve Dusseau 39 seconds in. Jed Prossner finally broke through the Machine defense with the first goal of the night for Philadelphia. Chicago answered right back with two straight goals by midfielder Chris Malone, another former Barrage player. Will Phillips scored his first goal of the season for the Barrage, followed by a goal by attackman B.J. Prager on a power play, cutting the deficit in half. Stephen Brundage and Sean Morris scored for the Machine giving them a comfortable five-goal lead. Kevin Leveille scored with 18 seconds left in the first half for Chicago. The score at the end of the first half was Chicago 9, Philadelphia 3. Chicago dominated possession on the first half, including face off wins. Chicago won nine out of 14 face offs with Philadelphia only winning five. Chicago's Leveille opened up the third quarter with his second goal of the night, putting them up by seven, followed by a goal from Morris, his second of the night. Roy Colsey scored a two-point goal for the Barrage, his first of the night. Bobby Horsey scored his first goal of the night, unassisted, for the Barrage cutting Chicago's lead in half. Dusseau answered back scoring his second goal of the night for the Chicago giving them a six-goal lead. Prager scored his second of the night to end the third quarter then scored two in a row for the Barrage to start off the fourth quarter. Justin Smith scored his first of the night for the Barrage putting them only two goals behind. Prossner scored his second of the night, cutting the deficit down to one goal. Jack deVilliers began the five-goal run for the Barrage by dominating on face offs in the fourth. Colsey scored his second of the night for Philly with 2:54 left to tie the game at 12. Chicago called timeout with 1:07 left to try and regain their winning momentum. Regulation time ended with the score 12-12, the first overtime is a 10 minute sudden death round. Philadelphia goalie Brian Dougherty and the Barrage defense held Chicago scoreless in the fourth quarter. Philadelphia opened overtime with a face off win and the team called timeout to slow the game down. Colsey scored his third of the night and the game winning over time goal. Philadelphia came from being down by eight goals in the second half to win in overtime 13 to 12. Philadelphia continues their road trip with the next stop in Long Island against the Lizards.
