Colorado Lightning Signs Sfaira and Slaughter

Loveland, CO - The Colorado Lightning signed two more players to the professional team, Mehdi Sfaira and Ryan Walker Slaughter. The team has been preparing themselves with heavy training for the Season Opener on Sunday, November 2 against the Texas Outlaws.

Mehdi Sfaira, also known as "Magic", has been signed with the Colorado Lightning as a midfielder. Sfaira is from Casablanca, Morocco and grew up his whole life enjoying the sport of soccer. He got the opportunity to play on the Raja de Casablanca U-16 Professional Soccer Team where they won the International Tournament in Rennes, France. Sfaira also played U-17 with the Moroccan National Team. Other than playing soccer, Sfaira likes to listen to music, play tennis and watch movies.

Ryan Walker Slaughter was signed with the Colorado Lightning as a striker for the team. Slaughter is from Boulder, Colorado where he attended William J. Palmer High School. He was affiliated with the Colorado Springs Chargers Youth Club and also played soccer for his high school. Slaughter attended University of Colorado at Colorado Springs where he graduated with a Psychology degree. During college, he received NCAA first and second team honors for soccer. Slaughter also played for several Semi Professional teams in Colorado such as, the Denver Kickers, Colorado Blizzard and Colorado Ascent. Another passion of Slaughter's is the game of ping pong.

These two players are big attributions to the Colorado Lightning but all players are working well together, resulting in a tremendously talented team for Northern Colorado. A full roster is expected by October 18th. The players, coaches and staff look forward to seeing all the fans at the Budweiser Events Center for the 2008-2009 season games.
