Lilavois Announces First Five for Monterrey
October 17, 2008 - Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) News Release
United States National Arena Soccer Team Head Coach Bernie Lilavois announced the selection of his first five players for the November 5-9 Torneo Internacional de Futbol Rapido Monterrey 2008 in Monterrey, Mexico.
Goalkeeper Justin Dzuba, defender Jacob Harris, midfielders Jay Hamilton and Ryan Creager, and forward Tony Thomas will make their first international appearance as the US grapples with Mexico, Brazil, and Peru.
The five have two things in common: They will get their first taste of international arena soccer and they are all members of the Denver Dynamite.
"It's a big honor for our organization to have five of our players going to Mexico," said Dynamite owner Pete Randall, "and it validates the work we've done putting the core group together. They will serve as great representatives for the USNAST and the Dynamite."
Each was selected from the USNAST player pool, which now consists of 26 players and will undoubtedly grow following combines in Cedar Park, TX, Glen Carbon, IL, on October 18 and Wenatchee, WA on October 19. Lilavois will make his final selections the week of October 20.
The US came in third in its first international FIFRA event, the Circuito Mundial 2008 in Montreal in July, after dropping close decisions to Mexico and Canada.
Coach Lilavois will be adding nine more players to the roster for the event, likely another goalkeeper, one forward, one midfielder/forward, two midfielders, and four defenders for a total roster of 14.
