Lightning Signs Josh Elbaum

(Loveland, CO) - Colorado Lightning has signed new midfielder Josh Elbaum to the team for this season. Elbaum is from Denver, Colorado and now lives in Littleton, Colorado. The 27 year old attended Denver South High School where he was 1st Team All State 1997 through 1999 and "The Best of The Best" 1st Team All Colorado in 1999. Elbaum was a part of the Colorado Rush, Lakewood Fury, and Denver Kickers. During club soccer, he was in 9 State Cup Championships, 2 Regional Championships and in 1999 he was a US National Finalist. Elbaum was also on the U-18 National Team and was a National Pool Member in 1998-1999.

Elbaum attended Metropolitan State College and Oregon State University for college. At Oregon State University, Elbaum was the team's 2nd leading goal scorer as only a freshman. Elbaum continued to play soccer for many years with teams including the Semi-Pro team Colorado Predators where he lead his team to the Rocky Mountain Conference Winter League Championship during the 2007-2008 season. Elbaum played for the Colorado Rapids Professional Team in 2005 and the San Diego Sockers in the MISL during the 2003-2004 season.

Colorado Lightning is expecting a great turnout for the rest of the season and welcomes Elbaum to the team. They all have high hopes for the upcoming home game on Sunday against the Detroit Waza at 6pm. The Pre-game on Sunday will feature Fossil Ridge High School against Broomfield High School at 3pm followed by the Fort Collins Fury taking on Inter Football Association-Longmont at 4pm.

The top-tier of the Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) has four divisions: Western US, Eastern US, Canada, and Mexico. The Western Division includes the following teams: Stockton Cougars, CA., Wenatchee Fire, WA., Denver Dynamite, and Colorado Lightning. The Lightning play 18 regular season games in total, nine at home at the Budweiser Events Center. Teams in the PASL will play six vs. six, including goalkeepers, on an indoor field 85 feet wide by 200 feet long during four 15 minute quarters (sudden death, if needed).
