Colorado Ice Sign Defensive Standouts

(Fort Collins, CO) - The Colorado Ice are proud to announce the signing of two new players to the Ice Organization, Defensive Lineman Melquan Fair and Defensive Back Damarcus James.

Fair is a 6'1", 280 lb defensive tackle from Catawba College, who was rated as the 98th best defensive tackle prospect in the 2010 NFL draft.

Fair played in 43 games during his 4 year career at Catawba, accumulating 20 sacks, 151 tackles, 50 tackles for loss, 18 quarterback hurries, and 4 fumble recoveries. In his final season, Fair accounted for 8.5 sacks, 57 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 8 quarterback hurries, and 1 fumble recovery.

During his career, Fair received numerous honors including being named First Team All-American, First Team All-Region, and First & Second Team All-Conference. After his prolific career at Catawba, Fair played in the East Coast All Star Game; in which he recorded 6 tackles and 3 tackles for loss.

James is a 6'0", 200 lb corner, who comes to the Ice as one of the most prolific players in IFL history. After spending the previous two seasons in the IFL, James spent the first part of this season playing for the Dallas Vigilantes of the AFL.

For the Vigilantes, James had 29 kick returns for 441 yards; giving him a 15.2 yards per return average. During the 2010 season, James played for the Richmond Revolution where he earned First Team All-League Honors as a defensive back. For that season James accumulated 76 tackles, 10 interceptions for 2 touchdowns, 12 pass breakups, 820 return yards for a 17.1 yard average, and 2 return touchdowns.

It was in the 2009 season with the Alaska Wild that James made a name for himself, becoming known as one of the most dangerous players in the history of the IFL. For the season, James recorded 50.5 tackles, 1 interception, 2 pass breakups, 1,611 return yards for a 20.1 yard average, and 9 return touchdowns. For his playmaking skills, James was named the Special Teams Player of the Year.
