Colorado Crush News Release

Fort Collins, CO- The Colorado Ice announced on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 that UIF All-Star OL Brandon Alconcel and former Bloomington Extreme DB Courtney Miller have been signed to the 2009 roster. Former Ice DB Dorsey Golston was traded to the Bloomington Extreme in the acquisition for Miller.

The 6'3" 304 lb 2008 UIF All-Star OL Alconcel played all 14 games for the Ice on the offensive line during the 2008 season -splitting time between center and tackle- where he tallied two tackles on the season, one on April 5th against the Sioux City Bandits and one against the Wichita Wild on June 13th. Alconcel's debut season with the Ice was in 2007 after he graduated from Colorado State University (CSU) with a degree in history and a successful Ram football career. "Brandon is a solid asset to the Ice organization and has been the anchor of the offensive line for two years. We are excited to have his leadership back as we prepare for the 2009 season," stated Colorado Ice Head Coach Collins Sanders.

Courtney Miller, the 6'2" 210 lb DB acquired from the Bloomington Extreme, brings a strong defensive presence to the Ice organization. In early 2007 Miller signed with the BC Lions-the Grey Cup Champions- of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Miller then finished the 2007 season with the Billings Outlaws where he posted 19 tackles, 6 pass block-ups, and one interception. In 2006 Miller was voted a National Indoor League (NIFL) All-Star player by league coaches and posted 3 interceptions, 16 pass break-ups and 35 tackles. In 2005, Miller played for the Lakeland Thunderbolts of the National Indoor Football League (NIFL) and in four games recorded 4 interceptions, 15 pass block-ups, and 32 tackles. "We have been interested in Courtney for a couple of years and finally had the opportunity to bring him to Colorado. He will help solidify an already strong defensive secondary," said Ice Head Coach Collins Sanders.

The Colorado Ice are proud members of the Indoor Football League (IFL). All home games are played at the Budweiser Events Center located in Loveland, Colorado. The 2009 season-opening exhibition game kicks off Friday, March 13th.
