Fort Collins, CO - The Colorado Ice are proud to announce the signing of two new players to the ICE Organization. The new players are QB Ethan Haller and RB Jalon Hopkins.
Haller is a 6'0", 210 lb quarterback from Ottawa University (KS). Haller only played two seasons at Ottawa; setting 15 school records during his short career. Haller is the school's all-time leader in touchdowns in a season (49), career touchdowns (77), passing touchdowns in a season (43), passing attempts in a game (70), passing attempts in a season (501), passing attempts in a career (842), passing completions in a game (42), passing completions in a season (311), passing completions in a career (529), passing yards in a game (587), passing yards in a season (4,882), passing yards in a career (7,764), completion percentage in a season (64%), total yards in a game (585), and total yards in a season (4,772). Haller's impressive statistics will soon be put to the test, as the Colorado Ice open camp in February.
Hopkins is a 5'11", 180 lb running back from Minnetonka, MN. Hopkins 4.4 speed and good size made him one of the most heavily recruited players out of Minnesota during his senior year of high school. Hopkins received interest from some of the biggest schools in the nation including Minnesota, Iowa, Miami (FL), and Wisconsin. Over the past three years Hopkins has played semi-pro football in Minnesota; being named an All American, All Conference, and Offensive MVP during his time with the Twin Ports Stampede. During this past season Hopkins had 91 carries for 790 yards and 9 touchdowns. Throughout his three years with the Stampede, Hopkins averaged 8.51 yards per carry. Hopkins will be in competition with returning running backs Bobby Purify and Terry Washington, as well as, University of Memphis standout T.J. Pitts.
The Colorado Ice are proud members of the Indoor Football League (IFL). All home games are played at the Budweiser Events Center located in Loveland, Colorado. The 2011 season kicks off in February.
