
Colorado Ice Add 4 Players to Boost Roster

The Colorado Ice is proud to announce the signings of four new players to the Ice Organization. The players are Joseph Thornton, Jarrell Holman, Justin Currie, and Karl Glimp.
Thornton is a 6'1", 235 lb linebacker/safety from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. Thornton is a veteran of the IFL, as he spent all of last season and the first half of this season with the Tri-Cities Fever. In five games played for Tri-Cities this season, Thornton accumulated 28 tackles, 1 interception, 1 pass break-up, and 1 defensive touchdown. Thornton was a key cog in helping Tri-Cities to an undefeated record to-date, as well as one of the top defenses in the IFL so far this season. In 12 games played for Tri-Cities during the 2011 season, Thornton accumulated 83 tackles, 1 sack, and 1 pass break-up. Thornton was a key force in Tri-Cities playoff run, leading them with 34 tackles in their 4 playoff games.
Holman is a 6'0", 205 lb defensive back from Arizona State University, who was rated as the 32nd best free safety prospect in the 2010 NFL draft class. During his career at ASU, Holman played in 23 games, accumulating 57 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 2 pass break-ups, 3 interceptions, and 1 defensive touchdown (interception return against Georgia). In his senior season alone, Holman accumulated 46 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 2 pass break-ups, 3 interceptions, and 1 defensive touchdown. Holman's 3 interceptions tied for the team lead and also placed him 7th in the Pac-10 in interceptions for the 2009 season. Before ASU, Holman attended Phoenix Junior College where he had 50 tackles with 7 tackles for loss in only 8 games.
Currie is a 5'10", 325 lb defensive lineman from Harding University, who was rated as the 110th best defensive tackle prospect in the 2007 NFL Draft class. Currie played all four seasons at Harding accumulating, 178 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, and 1 defensive touchdown. In his senior season alone, Currie accumulated 53 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks. Currie left Harding as one of the most prolific defensive lineman in school history, receiving recognition as an All Gulf South Conference, All Region, and All American performer. Currie will reunite with former Harding teammate and current Colorado Ice QB David Knighton.
Glimp is a 6'4", 295 lb offensive tackle from Stephen F. Austin University, who was rated as the 57th best offensive tackle prospect in the 2010 NFL draft class. During his career at Stephen F. Austin, Glimp started all four seasons, playing in 45 games. In his final two seasons a SFA Glimp started in 24 games, never surrendering a sack. After his strong career at SFA, Glimp was named All-Southland Conference First Team as well as a Fabulous Fifty All American by College Sports Network. His talent was widely regarded by NFL scouts as Glimp quickly signed with the Cleveland Browns after his senior season. Glimp will reunite with former SFA teammate and current Colorado Ice WR Duane Brooks.
