Colorado Ice 2011 Signings Bring in New Players

(Fort Collins, CO) - The Colorado Ice are proud to announce the signing of five new players and the re-signing of one player to the ICE organization. The players are WR Duane Brooks, DB Jarrell Holman, OL Robert Norris, DB Marvin Haynes, DL Marcus Kennedy, and DL Bryan Wick.

Brooks is a 5'11", 185 lb wide receiver from Stephen F. Austin University. During his two years at SFAU, Brooks had 186 receptions for 1,939 yards and 10 touchdowns. During his senior year Brooks smashed the school record for receptions with 118 for 1,076 yards and 6 touchdowns. Was named 2009 All Southland Conference First Team after his senior season and was 2008 Southland Conference Newcomer of the year after his junior year. Prior to his record breaking at SFAU, Brooks played wide receiver and quarterback at Central Michigan University.

Holman is a 6'0", 200 lb safety from Arizona State University. CBS Sports rated Holman as the 32nd best free safety in the nation for this past season. During his 2 year career at ASU, Holman amassed 3 interceptions for 69 yards and 1 touchdown. He also had 57 tackles with 2 tackles for loss. As a senior, Holman tied for the team lead with his 3 interceptions which also ranked 7th in the Pac-10. Before ASU, Holman attended Phoenix Junior College where he had 50 tackles with 7 tackles for loss in only 8 games.

Norris is a 6'5", 325 lb offensive lineman from Morgan State University. During his 2 years at Morgan State, Norris started 20 out of 23 games, ending with him being a two time All MEAC 2nd Team Conference award winner. After his senior season Norris was invited to be a member of the 2009 HBCU All Star Game which consists of the nations best players from the Historically Black Colleges & Universities. Before transferring to Morgan State, Norris was a member of the Virginia Tech football team that went 10-3 and lost to Georgia in the Chick-fil-A Bowl.

Haynes is a 6'2", 215 lb safety from Fresno State University. CBS Sports rated Haynes as the 57th best free safety in the nation for this past season. Haynes played in 38 games during his career at Fresno State accumulating 2 interceptions, 121 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 2 pass break-ups, and 1 forced fumble. Haynes ranked near the top of his team in tackles his final three seasons as he was a leader on defense and special teams.

Kennedy is a 6'1", 300 lb defensive lineman from St. Augustine University. CBS Sports rated Kennedy as the 90th best defensive tackle in the nation for the 2008-2009 season. As a senior, Kennedy had 61 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, and 11 sacks. His senior season ended with him being named a first team member of the 2008 DII Coaches' All American Team.

Wick is a 6'3", 305 lb defensive lineman from Bemidji State. Wick came to the ICE midway through the season and was an instant presence on the defensive line. Wick played in 8 games for the ICE and amassed 15 total tackles, ranking him 12th on the team. He was a versatile defensive linemen as he played both tackle and end during the season.
