THE GAME:

The Colorado Crush return to the field on Monday, June 18th for their final Central Division game of the season when they host rival the Chicago Rush at 8:00 p.m. MT on ESPN2. Earlier this season, the Rush handed the Crush a 48-59 loss in a Week 10 showdown at Allstate Arena.

The Crush enter Monday's contest following a Bye week that saw the team get some much needed rest. Colorado is 1-1 all-time in games following a Bye.

Colorado is coming off one of their worse losses in franchise history after suffering a 51-14 loss to the hands of the Utah Blaze on June 4th. The 14 points scored were a new club-low. Colorado's 14-point output was also the lowest offensive total of head coach Mike Dailey's 11-year career (previous 20 in Indiana vs. Tampa Bay 3/23/03).

To make matters even worse, in defeat Crush WR Damian Harrell's AFL record of 78 consecutive games with a touchdown came to a halt. The lone bright spot of the evening was Colorado DB Rashad Floyd added seven tackles giving him 142.0 on the season and breaking the AFL single-season record for most tackles in a season (a mark he has set in three of the last four seasons).

Colorado is currently riding two-game losing skids with losses to Grand Rapids and Utah. Since Dailey's arrival to Colorado in 2004, the Crush have only suffered two losing streaks, a three-game slide in 2005 and a two-game streak in 2006. The Crush are also 0-3 in games aired on ESPN2 this season.

Monday's game will go a long way in determining both Colorado and Chicago's postseason paths. Both the Crush and Rush have already secured playoff berths. Colorado and Chicago represent the AFL's last two ArenaBowl champions and both teams had to go through the other one to earn their respective championship.

With the Central Division the only one of the four divisional crowns still to be claimed, both the Crush and Rush, along with the Kansas City Brigade are all reaching to grab a hold of it. Chicago currently sits atop the division and are the American Conference's second seed, while Colorado is third in the Central and the Conference's fifth seed.

HEAD COACHES:

MIKE DAILIEY, Colorado (107-70, 11th Year): Mike Dailey enters his fourth season in Colorado and 11th as head coach in the AFL, after becoming the Crush's second head coach on June 26, 2003. Dailey joined the Crush following 13 seasons in the Albany/Indiana Firebirds organization, including the final seven as head coach.

One of the most successful and well-respected coaches in AFL history, Dailey's teams have compiled an overall record of 107-70 record, a winning percentage of 60.5. His teams have also made eight postseason appearances and he has won five division titles and two championships. Following the Crush's 44-40 victory over Kansas City on March 10, 2007, Dailey became only the fourth head coach in AFL history to surpass the 100 win mark. He currently stands as the league fourth all-time winningest coach.

In his first season in Colorado, Dailey helped guide the Crush to the largest turnaround in AFL history, inheriting a 2-14 team and leading them to an 11-5 record in 2004. In 1999, Dailey led the Albany Firebirds to their only ArenaBowl championship and was named AFL Coach of the Year. Before being named head coach of the Firebirds in 1997, Dailey served as an assistant in Albany for five seasons.

Dailey began his AFL coaching career with the Washington Commandos where he served as offensive/defensive line coach in 1990. He joined the Firebirds organization in the same capacity in 1991.

Prior to the AFL, Dailey worked as an assistant coach at Towson State University and was the offensive coordinator at Montgomery College-Rockville (Md.). Dailey got his start in coaching in 1981 as a 22-year-old assistant at Georgetown Prep High School in Rockville, Md. The move to coaching followed a semi-pro football career in the Washington D.C. area.

MIKE HOHENSEE, Chicago (116-98, 14th Year): With Chicago's 51-48 win in Colorado February 13th, Rush head coach Mike Hohensee moved into sole possession of third place on the AFL's all-time wins list. Hohensee, in his 14th season as a head coach in the AFL, was hired as the first coach in Rush history on September 26, 2000. He has a regular season record of 116-98. He has a career 11-9 mark in the postseason. He has led the Rush to six-consecutive playoff berths and two Central Division titles (2002 and 2004) and the ArenaBowl XX title.

Hohensee joined the Rush after spending the previous two seasons as head coach and director of player personnel for the New England Sea Wolves. He has spent a total of 12 seasons coaching in the Arena Football League, including prior head coaching stints with the Washington Commandos (1990), the Albany Firebirds (1994-96), the Anaheim Piranhas (1997) and the New England Sea Wolves (1999-2000).

He began his coaching career as an assistant for the Chicago Bruisers in 1989 before becoming the youngest head coach in league history for the Washington Commandos in 1990.

Hohensee played professional football for the Washington Federals of the USFL, the CFL's Ottawa Rough Riders and Toronto Argonauts and the Pittsburgh Gladiators of the AFL- where he is credited with throwing the first touchdown pass in AFL history. He also saw action with the Chicago Bears during the 1987 season.

Hohensee was an all-America quarterback at San Antonio Junior College before transferring to the University of Minnesota.

LAST TIME THESE TEAMS MET:

ROSEMONT, IL (5/7/07) - Two second half turnovers proved to be the difference as the Colorado Crush (6-4) fell to the Chicago Rush (8-1) 48-59 on Monday night. In victory, the Rush captured their team-record eighth straight win and took a two and a half game lead over the Crush in the Central Division.

In a battle of two of the League's top offensive players, Colorado WR Damian Harrell set a new career high with six receiving touchdowns on 10 receptions for 161 yards. Harrell's counterpart, Chicago's Bobby Sippio was named the contest's Offensive Player of the Game finishing with a game-high 15 catches for 159 yards and five scores.

The Crush came out and executed their game plan to perfection in the first quarter taking an early 13-0 lead on touchdown strikes to Harrell and WR Brad Pyatt. It marked the first time all season that the Rush were held scoreless in a quarter.

Both team traded scores throughout the second period as Harrell would add three more touchdowns and Sippio found the endzone twice for Chicago before the break. Colorado held onto a 33-28 advantage at the half despite a missed 49-yard field ball by the Crush's Jason Ball.

Chicago took their first lead of the game on their opening possession of the second half when Sippio hauled in a 19-yard pass from QB Matt D'Orazio. The game's turning point would come later in the quarter when on second down and 22 yards to go Rush DB Dennison Robinson intercepted a John Dutton pass. Chicago would ultimately score the game's next 21 straight points following another Crush turnover, this time inside the five-yardline, on a fumble.

Colorado would trim the lead to eight points at 48-56 with 4:36 left in the contest but Chicago was able to run the clock down and add a final 16-yard field goal by Dan Franz to seal the win.

CRUSH LAST WEEK:

SALT LAKE CITY (6/4/07) - The Colorado Crush dropped consecutive games for the first time this season falling to the Utah Blaze 51-14 Monday night. With the loss, Colorado misses an opportunity for a second straight week to clinch a playoff berth. Utah used a 37-point run to take control of the game and never look back.

Both AFL and Colorado records were broken during the game. With seven tackles, Crush DB Rashad Floyd set a new League mark for most single-season tackles with 142.0. Also, Colorado WR Damian Harrell's AFL record streak of 78 games with a touchdown came to a halt. Colorado's 14 point output also established a new team record low for points in a game breaking the 21 points they scored vs. Columbus on March 25, 2006.

Utah QB Joe Germaine threw five touchdowns on 20-of-32 passes for just 164 yards with one interception. Blaze WR Siaha Burley registered three receiving touchdowns on seven receptions with 56 yards. For Colorado, WR Willie Quinnie hauled in a game-high 10 catches for 97 yards and recorded the Crush only two scores of the night.

Colorado would take a short lived lead scoring the game's first points when QB John Dutton hit Quinnie on a 7-yard pass to give the Crush an early lead 7-0. Utah responded scoring the contest's next 37-points over the next nearly three quarters.

Germaine would tie the score at seven apiece on a one-yard and then complete touchdown strikes to Burley and J'Sharlo Jones of 11 and one-yard respectively to build a 21-7 Utah lead. Blaze K Steve Videtich would add a 20-yard field and Germaine another touchdown pass this time to WR Tom Pace to give Utah a 31-7 advantage at the break. The Blaze defense held the Crush offense scoreless over their final three possessions in the first half on an interception, a four-and-out and a missed field goal. Utah would also take advantage of a kickoff net recovery to set up one score. The seven first half points scored by Colorado tied a club record for least points in a half (three times- last vs. Columbus 3/25/06).

Colorado's defense came out to start the second half strong holding Utah to just six points in the third quarter on 22 and 26-yard field goals by Videtich. However, the Crush offense continued to struggle with an interception and a fumble walking away from the period with zero points and down 37-7.

The Crush finally broke their scoring draught when Quinnie pulled in a 2-yard touchdown with 12:31 remaining in the game to bring the score to 37-14. Colorado would turn the ball over twice more on an WR Alonzo Nix fumble and Dutton fourth interception of the game. Burley added two more receiving touchdowns, the final one coming with 1:23 on the clock, to give Utah the 37-point victory.

THINGS TO WATCH:

UP FOR GRABS:

This season the Crush secondary has made a huge impact in the team's overall success. The Colorado defense has set a new club single-season record for interceptions with 20, which currently is tied for the lead in the AFL in that category. DB Rashad Floyd has hauled in nine picks, while DB Chris Angel has seven interceptions, which ranks second and tied-fifth in the AFL respectively (the team's individual single-season record is 10- Floyd in 2006).

YOUNG BLOOD:

The Colorado Crush took the field in Week 1 with four rookies on their active roster. Not since head coach Mike Dailey's arrival to Colorado in 2004 has he had that many first-year players on his Crush active roster to begin a season.

The Crush currently have four rookies on their active roster with all four of those players starting.

LOCAL TIES:

This season the Crush have found a lot of good-young talent right in their back yard. Here is a list of players that have Colorado ties:

- DL QUINN DORSEY attended Manual High School in Denver.

- FB/LB ANTHONY DUNN attended Centauri High School in Manassa, CO and later played at the University of Northern Colorado.

- OL BRETT HUYSER played his collegiate football at the Air Force Academy.

- WR BRAD PYATT has played football at all three levels of his career in Colorado (Arvada West High School, Northern Colorado and the Crush).

BUILDING A WINNING TRADITION:

The Crush are among the winningest teams in the AFL regular season since head coach Mike Dailey's arrival, having tied for the league's best record in 2004 (11-5) and finishing with the American Conference's top seed in 2005 (10-6) and 2006 (11-5).

LET'S MAKE IT THREE:

Last season, Colorado was the only team to repeat as a division champion. This year, they'll look to become the first team since the New York Dragons (2003-2005) to repeat as divisional champions in three consecutive seasons.

HE KEEPS GOING & GOING & GOING....:

A true AFL Ironman, Kyle Moore-Brown is in his 13th season in the league and has never missed a game. ArenaBowl XIX marked his AFL record 176th consecutive start. The first 139 all came with the Firebirds organization before he signed with the Crush prior to the 2004 season. Kyle's career milestone of 200 came against the New York Dragons on April 15, 2007.

ALL GOOD THINGS COME TO AN END:

WR Damian Harrell had caught a touchdown pass in an AFL record 78 straight regular season games, including all 75 games as a member of the Crush, until his miraculous streak was broken on June 4 at Utah.

That streak was also the longest active streak of consecutive games scoring a TD. He broke the record for consecutive games with a receiving touchdown on 4/3/05 in the win over Las Vegas and set the mark consecutive games with a TD on 3/4/07 vs. Grand Rapids. Harrell's streak began with the Toronto Phantoms vs. Carolina on 7/4/02.

STEEL CURTAIN:

After allowing 14 sacks in 2003 (12 on Dutton), the Crush pass protection has been stellar under head coach Mike Dailey.

The team allowed just four sacks in 2004, and none after Week 6. In 2005, Colorado allowed just six sacks, while holding 10 opponents sackless on the year.

Since 2004, the Crush have allowed just 22 sacks in their last 52 regular season games (total of 2,522 plays).

IT'S NOT OVER TILL IT'S OVER:

Since head coach Mike Dailey has arrived in Colorado in 2004, the Crush have claimed victory in the final minute of the game in seven contests.

2004

- vs. Las Vegas (2/6)- QB John Dutton tosses two touchdown passes to WR Damian Harrell in the final 12 seconds to give Colorado a stunning 43-42 victory.

- at Detroit (5/23)- QB John Dutton found WR/DB Willis Marshall for a 10-yard touchdown pass with one second on the clock as the Crush won 45-42.

2005

- vs. Nashville (5/13)- K Clay Rush splits the uprights on a 31-yard field goal as time expires to give Colorado a 52-49 win.

- vs. Georgia (6/12)- K Clay Rush connects on a 20-yard field goal as time expires to give the Crush a 56-48 victory in ArenaBowl XIX.

2006

- vs. Chicago (1/29)- QB John Dutton hits WR Damian Harrell for a touchdown with one second remaining as the Crush go on to win 65-56.

- at Georgia (2/5)- QB John Dutton finds WR Damian Harrell for a 13-yard touchdown with 45 seconds left to lift Colorado to a 61-59 victory.

2007

- vs. Nashville (4/1)- Down by seven points (41-48) with 50 seconds left, Crush FB/LB Robert Thomas blocks a Kats 30-yard field goal attempt as Colorado scores four plays later to tie the game 48-48. Then Crush DB Chris Angel intercepts a Nashville pass with 32 seconds left and returns it to the Kats one-yard line. Thomas rushes in with six seconds remaining to lift Colorado to a 55-48 victory.
