Quebec, QC - The Pittsfield Colonials fell in game three of the Can-Am League Championship Series 1-0 to the Quebec Capitales on Thursday night at Stade Municipal in Quebec City and are now down two-games-to-one in the best of five game series.
Capitales' starting pitcher Karl Gelinas (2-0) struck-out 12 batters in a masterful complete game shut-out victory in the pitcher's duel. Gelinas has now pitched 16 scoreless innings in the postseason for the Capitales, as he allowed five hits and walked none in the impress win over Pittsfield.
Quebec centerfielder Goefrey Tomlinson (1-for-3, 2B, R) hooked a two-out double up the right field line in the bottom of the eighth inning and scored the winning run on Ivan Naccarata's (1-for-4, 3B, RBI) deep triple to right field as the next batter of the inning.
Colonials' starter Kyle Zaleski (0-1) suffered the hard luck loss going eight solid innings, allowing one run on five hits, no walks, and five strike-outs.
The Colonials now face elimination as they will play the Capitales in game four of the best-of-five game series for the Can-Am League Championship at Stade Municipal in Quebec City on Friday night. Righty Patrick Moran (1-0) will take the ball for Pittsfield against Quebec's Michel Simard (1-0) at 7:05pm.
