
Colonel Claw'd to visit local troops before deployment to Iraq

This Week in Condorstown: Wednesday, June 3: Condors mascot Baby Cal will visit Silver Creek Camp Fun, located at Silver Creek Park located at 8515 Akers Road at 9 a.m. Baby Cal will compete with the day campers in a game of freeze tag as well as defend her title in musical chairs.
Thursday, June 4: Condors mascot Colonel Claw'd will attend the Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House Grand Opening at 10 a.m. at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital, located at 420 34th Street. Through two jersey auctions the Condors and their fans have raised $44,800 for the Ronald McDonald House. After the ceremonies the Colonel will stop by the pediatric ward to visit the hospital's young patients.
Saturday, June 6: Colonel Claw'd has been asked to attend the Family Day celebration for the US Army 923rd Transportation Detachment that will be deployed to Iraq on June 13. Family Day for Unit 923 will be at the Bakersfield Unit, located at 4101 Chester Ave at 2 p.m. and will serve as a morale booster for our troops before they are deployed. The Condors wish good luck and a heartfelt thank you to all the men and women serving our country.
Bakersfieldcondors.com named as Kern favorite: The Best of Kern reader's choice poll results were released on Saturday in the Bakersfield Life Magazine and the official website of the Bakersfield Condors, bakersfieldcondors.com was named as one of the three favorite websites in Kern County alongside bakersfield.com and kget.com. Condors Nominated for Beautiful Bakersfield Award: The Beautiful Bakersfield Awards Banquet, hosted by the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce, was held last Saturday night, and honored businesses, nonprofit groups and individuals for their outstanding contributions to improving the quality of life for local residents. The Bakersfield Condors, winners of the Group Humanitarian Crystal Camellia in 2000, 2006 and 2007, were once again nominated for the prestigious award for donating over $450,000 in cash, goods and services during the 2008 calendar year.
The Condors would like to congratulate this year's winner of the Group Humanitarian award, Jesus Shack, for uniting individuals from 51 local churches to serve 3,800 people through their street team project.
