Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Rancho Cucamonga, CA- Angels starting pitcher Bartolo Colon will begin rehabilitation on Thursday, June 1st at 10:30am with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. Colon was placed on the 15-day disabled list on April 19 retroactive to April 16 due to inflammation in his right shoulder. Colon has not seen any game action since April 15 vs. Baltimore. Kevin Gregg was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake to fill the vacancy on the 25-man roster.
Colon is 0-2 with a 7.07 ERA in three starts this season. He underwent an MRI showing swelling in the shoulder caused by scarring from the shoulder strain suffered in 2005.
The 2005 American League Cy Young winner was signed as a free agent by the Angels on Dec. 9, 2003. Colon has been in the Major Leagues for eight years and had stints with the Cleveland Indians, Montreal Expos, Chicago White Sox and now the Angels. Colon's 74 wins are the most in the Majors since 2002 and is the only Major League pitcher to win at least 14 games in each of the past seven seasons (1998-2005).
