Danbury Trashers News Release

DANBURY, CT--Muskegon had all the elements to put up a huge first period on Friday night, but they ran into an old friend. Former teammate Sly Daigle stopped 19 of 20 shots in the first period and concluded the night with 41 saves while Shawn Collymore scored four points on a goal as the Danbury Trashers took a 3-1 series lead over the Muskegon Fury with a come from behind 7-3 win on Friday night.

David Wrigley's second goal in as many games opened the scoring at the 5:03 mark from Tom Galvin and Todd Robinson. Despite taking the first 15 shots of the game, the Muskegon Fury were unable to get anything else past Daigle in the period. The Trashers received some help as J.M. Daoust's power play goal at 17:29 from David Hymovitz and Jeff Daw tied the game.

Danbury came out strong in the second period and switched the game's momentum as Jamie Thompson and Dave MacIsaac scored at 7:04 and 8:46 to give the Trashers a 3-1 lead. Both goals were assisted by Mike Omicioli, with Drew Omicioli also helping on Thompson's goal.

Mike Omicioli added Danbury's second power play goal at :36 of the third period from Collymore and Drew Omicioli. Collymore, who scored all four points in the final period, added an unassisted goal at 8:33 before Bill Zalba redirected a Joe Pomeranski shot at 10:33 to end Danbury's five-goal outburst to close the Fury deficit to 5-2. Twenty-two seconds later David-Alexandre Beauregard responded with his first goal of the series and his 8th of the playoffs from Collymore to give Danbury a 6-2 lead.

Jason Lawmaster tallied Muskegon's final goal at 18:02 from Tom Galvin, but Donny Grover's first playoff goal came 37 seconds later from Collymore and Beauregard to give the Trashers a 7-3 lead

Sly Daigle stopped 41 of 44 shots, while Clayton Pool saved only 30 of 37 in the loss as the Trashers are one win away from reaching their first ever Colonial Cup Final. The series winner will play in Kalamazoo next Friday and Saturday night.

Game five between Danbury and Muskegon takes place on Saturday May 13th at 7:30pm. Games six and seven are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday 15th and 16th in Muskegon if necessary.
