Colin Cassidy Memorial Tournament Raises More Than $25,000

DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth, NDP Lacrosse and the Genesis Lacrosse Club are proud to announce that the Colin L. Cassidy Memorial Lacrosse Tournament, held in mid-September at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, raised more than $25,000. This amount far exceeded the initial goal of $15,000.

The majority of the proceeds from the tournament will be donated to the Colorado Lacrosse Foundation to create college scholarships for local lacrosse players. A portion of the proceeds will also be donated to the Edgewater Fire Department Foundation and the Trinity United Methodist Church.

"The lacrosse community is a tight-knit family," said Steve Govett, president and general manager of the Colorado Mammoth. "When one of our own is in need, we step up and support them. I was honored to play with Chris [Cassidy] in the tournament."

Playing through frigid temperatures and afternoon precipitation, 72 teams across 11 divisions participated with two goals: show support for the Cassidy family and raise money for charity.

"I'm floored by the tremendous support of the Colorado lacrosse community, the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, and other local businesses," said Brian Tatum, NDP's director of operations. "Everyone was incredibly generous."

"Chris and I were overwhelmed by the sheer size of the event and the generosity of everyone who played, volunteered and donated," said Sara Cassidy, Colin's mother. "This event was a true testament to the amazing people in the lacrosse community. Our entire family is deeply grateful."

Two-year-old Colin Cassidy drowned in Vail on June 28 while attending the Vail Shootout lacrosse tournament.
