Barrie Colts News Release
The Ontario Hockey League announced today that Barrie Colts co-captain Cole Beaudoin has been named a finalist for the William Hanley Trophy, presented annually to the league's Most Sportsmanlike Player as voted by the League's General Managers.
Beaudoin earns the recognition following a dominant 2025-26 regular season that combined elite offensive production with consistency, discipline, and a commitment to detail in all three zones. The Kanata, Ontario native appeared in 54 games, recording 89 points (33 goals, 56 assists) while posting a 1.65 points-per-game average-ranking among the league's top performers.
Among the OHL's most impactful players at even strength, Beaudoin produced at a 1.13 points-per-game rate at five-on-five, underscoring his ability to drive play without reliance on special teams. He recorded 10 game-winning goals, added two short-handed tallies, and led the Colts with 23 power-play assists while finishing the season with a +40 rating.
A physically imposing presence at six-foot-two and 211 pounds, Beaudoin combined his offensive output with a disciplined approach, recording just 29 penalty minutes across the season. His 55.4 percent success rate in the faceoff circle further reinforced his reliability in all situations, while his consistent deployment against top opposition highlighted his two-way effectiveness.
League-wide recognition of Beaudoin's complete game was reflected in the Ontario Hockey League Coaches Poll, where he ranked first in four categories: best on faceoffs, best defensive forward, best penalty killer, and hardest worker-further solidifying his reputation as one of the league's most well-rounded players.
Originally selected in the first round (24th overall) of the 2024 NHL Draft, Beaudoin has continued to elevate his development path while gaining international experience with Hockey Canada, including participation in World Junior tournaments.
Beaudoin's value to the Colts extended beyond individual production. He finished 18 points ahead of the next-highest scorer on the roster. He played a central role in one of the league's most dominant stretches of the season, as Barrie dropped just three points over a 24-game span following his return from international competition.
In addition to his recognition as a William Hanley Trophy finalist, Beaudoin remains firmly in the conversation for the Red Tilson Trophy, awarded annually to the OHL's Most Outstanding Player.
Vice President and General Manager Marty Williamson spoke on Beaudoin's achievement and impact within the organization.
"Cole has made our organization proud every night. He brings 100 percent effort and leadership to this team. Over the past four years, we've had the opportunity to watch his growth, and this season has been especially remarkable for both Cole and the Colts."
Beyond his on-ice performance, Beaudoin's leadership remains a cornerstone of the organization. As co-captain, he has established himself as a daily standard-setter-an "everydayer" whose preparation, work ethic, and professionalism continue to resonate throughout the Colts' locker room.
As the Colts continue their playoff push, Beaudoin remains central to the team's identity. His performance this season stands as a reflection of his continued development and overall impact-earning recognition not only among the Ontario Hockey League's top players, but as one of its most complete.
