Carolina Cobras News Release

CHARLOTTE - The Carolina Cobras officially kicked off training camp on Sunday as the team gathered at the team's official practice facility, the Sports Warehouse, for their first full-contact action of 2004.

Following a successful three-day mini-camp in which the Cobras focused on implementing the team's offensive and defensive schemes, the 36-man roster welcomed the opportunity to take the practices to another level.

"The guys really enjoyed the opportunity to get the pads on and get after it," said Cobras Head Coach and Director of Football Operations Eddie Khayat. "Everything is much more like game conditions once you get those pads on. So far, the coaches have done a wonderful job of teaching and the players have all learned so quickly. The lack of mental mistakes has really impressed me."

Following is a complete breakdown of upcoming events and this week's Cobras' practice schedule.

Roster Moves

On the second day of mini-camp the Cobras released offensive specialist Antonio Stanley, who had spent the last two seasons with the Orlando Predators. Prior to the beginning of camp, the team announced the signing of defensive specialist Daryon Brutley and offensive/defensive lineman Jason Geter. Brutley spent part of the 2003 season with the NFL's Phildelphia Eagles, while Geter, a Shelby, NC native, makes his professional football debut.
