Carolina Cobras News Release

CHARLOTTE The Carolina Cobras announced today that they have signed OL/DL Ben Crosland and WR/DB Van Johnson to the active roster and signed OL/DL Thaddeus Bullard to the practice squad. The team also released OL/DL Michael Harrison, activated and waived WR/LB Tim Dumas from the practice squad, placed FB/LB Glen Mitts and WR/LB Rj Anderson on injured reserve.

Crosland, a two-year AFL veteran, joins the Cobras after having played for the Georgia Force last season. He had 12.5 tackles and 6.0 sacks and caught eight passes for 82 yards and two touchdowns last season for the Force.

Johnson comes to Carolina after spending the last four seasons with the Albany/Indiana Firebirds. In his four-year career, he has 231 receptions for 2,611 yards and 47 touchdowns, 125 kickoff returns for 2,553 yards and four touchdowns, and 80.5 tackles on defense. He signed with the Buffalo Destroyers in the offseason and was released at the conclusion of training camp.

Bullard, a rookie from the University of Florida, was in training camp with the Cobras, but was waived at the end of camp. He rejoins the team as a member of the practice squad.

Harrison played in two of the Cobras first three games, totaling 2.0 tackles and one quarterback hurry. Dumas played in the season opener, catching two passes for 15 yards, and was placed on injured reserve the following week with a hamstring strain.

Mitts suffered a high ankle sprain against Buffalo on February 9 and was inactive last week against Detroit. He was placed on injured reserve when it was discovered that the ankle was not healing sufficiently.

The Cobras return to the field on Friday when they host the Orlando Predators. Game time is 7:30 at the Charlotte Coliseum
