December 13, 2002 - NBA G League (G League) News Release
The Greenville Groove will collect both new and clean used overcoats and caps for children, to be given to Joshua 24:15 Inc. Ministries for distribution to needy children. The coats will be collected both tonight when North Charleston comes to Greenville and Dec. 18 when Greenville hosts Fayetteville. They will be collected at the Fan Appreciation Area inside the entrance at the Bi-Lo Center.
Water Bottles, Posters and Kelly's Love Jones
There is something for young and old alike when Columbus hosts Mobile tonight at the Columbus Civic Center. The first 1,200 children will receive Riverdragons water bottles as the "Year of the Uniform" promotion gets underway. The first 2,000 fans through the door will get a "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" poster. Kelly's Love Jones, a New Orleans R&B Band will cap off the night with a free 30-minute concert following the game..
Desert Sun
Desert Sun, a local Southern Rock favorite in Asheville, headlines the first of six free concerts prior to Asheville Altitude Friday night home games as the "2002-03 Budweiser Winter Concert Series with the Altitude", sponsored by OVERTIME Sports Bar & Grill and Clear Channel radio, tips off tonight. The concert begins at 5:15 at the Asheville Civic Center. Tip off for the basketball game follows at 7:15 p.m.
Camping Out at Von Braun
Over 600 area Cub and Boy Scouts will use the Von Braun Center as a campground Saturday night as part of "Scout Night with the Flight." The camp out will take place following the Huntsville Flight's contest against the Columbus Riverdragons at the VBC. A list of activities include a Merit Badge session that covers the areas of first aid, sports and journalism, as well as a basketball tournament on the floor and movies shown throughout the night.
Narrow Gap
Two-and-half games are all that separates first from worst as the NBDL readies for a full slate of games this weekend. With four games on Friday and four on Saturday, what the standings look like on Monday is anybody's guess.
