Coastal Bend wins second straight
ROBSTOWN, Texas -The Coastal Bend will head to San Angelo on a high note with back to back wins versus longtime rival, the Edinburg Roadrunners. After the 18-7 thrashing on Wednesday night, the Aviators down the Roadrunners 6-4 to even the four game series.
Elliott Shaw improved to 3-4 to follow up a stellar pitching performance from Saturday night in Jackson. Shaw pitched seven strong innings on 110 pitches. Though he surrendered four earned runs, his offense insured that he exited with the lead 6-4.
Newly acquired Mario Thomas was player of the game. In the lead off role, Thomas scored twice showing off his lightning speed on the base paths. This enabled manager Murray Wilson to slide Chris Judkins down to the ninth slot, in essence giving the Aviator lineup dual lead-off hitters.
South Texas product, James Lira from Bishop, Texas, picked up the save, pitching two complete innings.
Our fourth consecutive four game series will commence in San Angelo over the Fourth of July weekend.
The Aviators will have a fireworks show, glow necklaces, and American flag giveaway on July 5th. Tickets are available through the Aviator's website, www.aviatorsbaseball.com or call (361) 387-8585. All games are broadcast on KCCT 1150 AM, and the Aviators website.
