Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release

The Shreveport Sports evened their second half record at 2-2 with a 9-2 victory over Ft. Worth Thursday at Fair Grounds Field. It's the first time this season that the Sports have been at the .500 mark.

Ft. Worth took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning when Tony Mota hit his third home run of the season. The Sports came back and scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth on just two hits. Jose Rivas drove in two runs with a single and Mike Willis knocked in a run with a double. Shreveport took advantage of four walks and a wild pitch in the inning to account for the four runs.

After the Cats cut the lead to 4-2 with a run in the sixth, Shreveport put the game away with a three-run sixth inning.

Derek Cunningham pitched six innings to pick up his second win of the season while Dan Mozingo hurled the final three inning to record his first save of the year.

The Sports will start a four-game road trip Friday at Pensacola before returning home to Fair Grounds field on July 6th to begin a seven-game homestand.
