Syracuse Mets News Release
Syracuse, NY- The Syracuse Chiefs announced today that Syracuse University Head Men's Basketball Coach Jim Boeheim will throw out the ceremonial first pitch on Father's Day, June 21, prior to the Chiefs' 2:00pm game against the Columbus Clippers.
Boeheim will be on hand in support of Prostate Cancer Awareness Day and will also sign autographs on the concourse from 2:00pm - 2:30pm.
The Hall of Fame coach, a prostate cancer survivor himself, is a champion of many charitable causes, including "Coaches vs. Cancer." Boeheim's local campaign is annually among the national leaders in money raised.
Chiefs players and coaches will wear special white hats during the game that feature a light blue Chiefs logo on the front and a light blue ribbon on the back. The hats will be autographed after the game and will be included in a silent auction that will begin on the concourse during the game and continue online at SyracuseChiefs.com. The in-stadium silent auction will also include sports memorabilia provided by Benefit Golf & Auctions.
The Chiefs will host a BBQ with players and coaches in the right field picnic area immediately following the game. Tickets for the BBQ are $20 for adults, $15 for children 12 & younger and include a Level 100/200 Reserved Seat game ticket. Tickets for the BBQ can be purchased by calling the Chiefs ticket office at 315-474-7833.
Level 200 Reserved Seat tickets for the game are also being sold by the local chapter of the Notre Dame alumni club.
Proceeds from the in-stadium and online auctions, post-game BBQ, and tickets sold by the Notre Dame alumni club will benefit Ed Randall's Bat for the Cure Prostate Cancer Foundation. Bat for the Cure is an organization whose main purpose is to increase the public's awareness of prostate cancer and to educate the American people about cutting edge techniques in treatment, prevention and detection.
Tickets for all Syracuse Chiefs home games can be purchased in person at the Chiefs ticket office at Alliance Bank Stadium, by calling 315-474-7833, or online at SyracuseChiefs.com.
