Cleveland Turns the Heat up on Harrisburg

CLEVELAND, OHIO -- The Cleveland Force defeated the visiting Harrisburg Heat, 23-12, tonight in front of season-high, 6036 fans to remain a perfect 4-0 at the Convocation Center at Cleveland State University. The 23 points scored marked a season-high for the Major Indoor Soccer League.

With the victory, Cleveland improved to 5-4 overall and 3-3 in the MISL Eastern Conference. With the loss, Harrisburg fell to 4-5 overall and 2-3 in the Eastern Conference as well as falling to 0-1 in the season series.

The Force opened the scoring (2-0) when Lee Edgerton scored his first two-point goal after missing the last five games with a toe injury off the assist from John Ball at the 5:54 mark of the first period. The Heat responded to tie the game (2-2) when Matt Tanzini scored the two-point goal off the feed from Marco Lopez at 11:04. Cleveland regained the lead (4-2) when Chris Stathopoulos scored the two-point power play goal off the pass from Justin Evans at the 14:58 mark of the first quarter.

The Force added to its lead (6-2) when Giuliano Oliviero scored the two-point goal off the assist from Hector Marinaro at the 2:15 mark of the second stanza. The assist extended the scoring streak for Marinaro to 51 straight games with at least a point in a game. Cleveland continued its scoring run (8-2) when Marinaro scored the unassisted two-point goal at 8:00. The Force found the back of the net again (10-2) when Marinaro scored the two-point goal between the legs of Heat goalkeeper Scott Petras off the assist from Oliviero at the 9:27 mark of the second quarter.

Cleveland added to its lead (12-2) when Oliviero buried the two-point goal off the cross from Marinaro at the 5:28 mark of the third quarter. Harrisburg snapped a 10-0 run by the Force (12-4) when Martin Hernandez scored the two-point goal off the second assist of the game for Lopez at 8:53. The Heat cut into the lead (12-6) when Tanzini scored his second goal of the game at the 9:23 mark. Harrisburg scored its third straight goal (12-8) when Horacio Robledo scored the two-point goal off the assist from Chris Morman at 9:49. Cleveland snapped a 6-0 run by the Heat (15-8) when Ball chipped Petras for the three-point goal off the pass from Edgerton at 14:57.

The Force added to their lead (17-8) when Oliviero recorded his first hat trick of the season on the two-point goal off the feed from Marinaro at 2:16 of the final quarter. Cleveland added a three-point goal when Nevio Pizzolitto found the back of the net at 5:15. John Ball scored the three-point goal against (23-8) the sixth attacker off the pass from Joe Mattacchione. Harrisburg snapped and 11-0 run by the Force when Chikis Lopez scored the two-point goal off the feed from Genoni Martinez. The Heat rounded out the scoring when David Bascome scored the two-point goal off the pass from Marco Coria.

Cleveland will next travel to Kansas City, Missouri to play the Kansas City Comets in a MISL game on Saturday, November 30th at the Kemper Arena. The game is scheduled to start at 9:05 p.m. and will mark the first time the Force and Comets will face each other this season.
