Cleveland franchise put up for sale

March 29, 2005 - Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2)
Cleveland Force News Release

CLEVELAND, OHIO- Cleveland Force Chief Executive Officer Richard Dietrich announced today that North Coast Professional Sports, the operating company of the Force, has put the franchise on the market to be sold.

North Coast Professional Sports purchased the franchise on December 10, 1999 from former owner George Hoffman and GSH Enterprises.

North Coast Professional Sports is actively pursuing a new ownership group in order for the franchise to continue operations for the 2005-06 Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) season. If unable to find a new ownership group to take over the franchise before the start of the 2005-06 season, the Cleveland Force will go into an inactive status like the Dallas Sidekicks had done for the current season.

The Force is currently in fourth place in the MISL Standings with a record of 16-14 overall. The team leads the Chicago Storm by 1.5 games, the defending champion Baltimore Blast by 3.5 games, and the Kansas City Comets by 4.5, with 9 games remaining in their regular season. The top 4 teams in the league will advance into post-season action. Each semi-final team will host one home game, with the Championship series games taking place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and St. Louis, Missouri, regardless of which teams advance. The Championship games will be broadcast on ESPN. The Force has four home games remaining on the 2004-05 schedule including a showdown with the first place Milwaukee Wave on Saturday, April 2 at 7:05 p.m.
