CHARLESTON, W.V. - Lakewood dropped their third straight game against West Virginia, 8-4, to fall 3.0 games out of first place in the South Atlantic League North Division.

West Virginia scored a pair of runs in the 2nd and 4th inning to take a 4-0 lead, and then added four runs in the 8th inning to pad their lead to 8-2 for closer Nathan Kilcrease into the 9th inning. Kilcrease, who entered the game in the 8th inning when it was still a 4-2, recorded his 10th save despite allowing two unearned runs over 1.2 innings. He has allowed four runs (one earned) in 27.1 innings this season with West Virginia- good for a 0.33 ERA.

Lakewood hit back-to-back home runs for the first time this season when Kelly Dugan and Maikel Franco connected on solo shots as the first two batters of the 7th inning. The homers, Dugan's 11th and Franco's team-leading 12th, cut West Virginia's lead in half and made it 4-2. That would be the closest Lakewood would get in front of 1,001 fans at Apalachian Power Park.

Lakewood will send Lino Martinez (5-5, 5.79) to the mound against Mike Jefferson (4-7, 5.08) in the final game of the four-game series. Martinez is 0-1 in his last two starts and Jefferson will be making his fifth appearance (second start) against Lakewood this season.

First pitch for Monday's game is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Listen to all the action on WOBM 1160-AM and WOBM 1310-AM beginning at 6:50 p.m. with the BlueClaws Beat pre-game show.
