
Clark and Stinson lead Gnats to win

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Darren Clark had 3 hits and 3 RBI while Josh Stinson pitched 4.1 scoreless innings of relief as Savannah beat Charleston 6-4 to snap the RiverDogs' nine-game winning streak Thursday night at Historic Grayson Stadium.
Greg Veloz scored three times and had 2 hits while Jordan Abruzzo singled home Richard Lucas with the deciding run on a single in the fifth to give Savannah a 5-4 lead.
The Gnats began the scoring in the second when Darren Clark doubled home Greg Veloz. Then Will Vogl, in his first at-bat as a Sand Gnat, singled to center to score Clark, giving the Gnats a 2-1 lead.
In the fourth, Clark doubled home Abruzzo and Veloz to extend the lead to 4-1. Charleston answered with three in the fifth on 3 hits and an error from Greg Veloz before an RBI double from Brandon Laird off Stinson tied the game at four.
After the Laird double, Stinson (1-1) cruised the rest of the way, scattering 6 hits over 4.1 innings while striking out 4 to earn his first win of the season.
Gnats starter Elvin Ramirez pitched 4.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits.
Charleston starter Adam Olbrychowski (0-2) went 4.1 innings, allowing 5 runs (4 earned) on 5 hits. He took the loss, striking out 2 and walking 3.
Savannah heads to Rome to begin a 4-game road trip against the Braves Friday night. LHP Angel Calero (0-1, 5.00) will be on the mound for Savannah. The Gnats return home Tuesday, April 22 at 7 p.m. when the RiverDogs visit to begin a 10-game homestand. Tuesday is Historic Grayson Stadium Poster Giveaway.
