
Captains Shutout the BlueClaws 3-0

Lake County Captains News Release
(Lakewood, NJ) - It was another day of outstanding pitching as the Lake County Captains defeated the Lakewood BlueClaws on Thursday 3-0. This was the Captains third shutout of the season. In the two game series, Captains pitching allowed only one run on seven base hits.
The Captains broke out on top in the second inning and for the second night in a row and error helped the Captains cause. With one out Matt Brown reached on an error. He scored on a two out double by Michael Valadez. Jansy Infante then doubled home Valadez and the Captains led 2-0. Captains went up 3-0 in the fifth inning when Roman Pena doubled home Matt Willard.
Captains starter Chris Archer got his first win of the year pitching five scoreless innings giving up just one hit while striking out four and walking four. Kyle Landis replaced Archer and pitched 1.1 innings before being replaced by Mike Pontius. Pontius came on with two runners on and one out in the seventh and go out of the inning without any runs scoring. Pontius would go the final 2.2 innings and pick up his first save of the year.
The Captains return home on Friday for a three game weekend series against the Hagerstown Suns, the Class A affiliate of the Washington Nationals. Ryan Miller (2-0, 0.00) gets the start for the Captains. The game can also be heard on AM 1330 WELW, WELW.COM or CAPTAINSBASEBALL.COM. The promotion this Friday is Frost Bite Night, where all fans receive a free ticket to a future game if the temperature falls below 40 degrees.
Saturday is Eastlake Appreciation Day. Eastlake residents can purchase tickets at city hall for only $1 with all proceeds going to the stadium debt relief fund. Mayor Ted Andrzejewski will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
Sunday marks the return of the Plevin & Gallucci Family Fun Days. All fans can enjoy a pre-game autograph session with Captains players, and concourse entertainment such as a balloon artist and a magician. After the game all kids get to run the bases presented by Andrews Osborne Academy.
