Cincinnati Marshals Announce New Head Coach

Cincinnati, OH - The Cincinnati Marshals proudly announce the addition of a new Head Coach, Tony Wells to lead the Marshals to the playoffs.

Wells brings 13 years of indoor football experience as a player and a coach to the Marshals. He graduated from Kent State University and was picked up by the Columbus Thunderbolts of the Arena Football League as a wide receiver and defensive back. He went on to play eight seasons with various teams in the Arena Football League including the Columbus Thunderbolts, the Albany Firebirds, the Cleveland Thunderbolts, the Miami Hooters, and the Florida Bobcats before retiring to begin his coaching career as a Player Coach for the Florida Bobcats in 1999.

In 2002, Wells was named the Assistant Offensive Coordinator for the Pensacola Barracudas of the Arena Football 2 League. The following season he became the Offensive Coordinator/ Asst. Head Coach of the AF2's Charleston Swamp Foxes before moving on to the Wlikes-Barre Pioneers of the AF2 where he was the Offensive Coordinator. In 2005 he made the switch to the National Indoor Football League when he was named the Offensive Coordinator for the Miami Morays. He led the Morays to a 4-2 record before resigning to pursue other opportunities.

"I'm excited to come to Cincinnati to coach such a great team with such great community support. These players have been through a lot in the past few weeks so I'm going to focus on earning their confidence and building stability so that we can move up in the playoff rankings," said Wells. "We want to put a great product on the field to thank the fans for their support and show them that we're here to stay."

The Marshals battle for a playoff spot as they take on the Rome Renegades this Saturday, June 4, 2005 at 7:30pm at U.S. Bank Arena.
